Visit and Experience Simulation Education Centre of the Ljubljana Health Centre
- Simulation Education Centre of the Ljubljana Health Centre
Located in the heart of Ljubljana, the Simulation Education Centre of the Ljubljana Health Centre is one of the SESAM certified simulation centres for healthcare education. It operates within the Institute for Research and Development in Primary Healthcare.
At the intersection of technology, research, and education, we develop solutions that enhance patient safety, improve clinical skills, and strengthen the healthcare system’s readiness for complex situations.
Our approach is based on interdisciplinary collaboration and includes:
- Simulation-based training utilizing advanced technology (high-fidelity simulators, AR, VR)
- Professional education in key fields such as care of critically ill patients, resuscitation, triage, trauma, childbirth, palliative care, oncology, geriatrics, dementia, and communication in challenging clinical and social situations
- Collaboration with academic institutions – working with medical and healthcare faculties to train students from various health disciplines, focusing on safe and team-based learning in a simulation environment
We are proud to be:
- An active member of the European hub EUVECA – a network of centers for simulation education and research in healthcare promoting collaboration, innovation, and development across Europe
- Leaders of the Transsimed project, a European initiative focused on the development of high-quality simulation education
In addition to training healthcare professionals, we also offer:
- Simulation workshops for the general public (e.g., basic life support, first aid)
- Teambuilding programs for companies, featuring gamification, crisis scenarios, leadership, and team problem-solving
- Pilot projects at the intersection of healthcare and education, enabling collaboration with development partners and research institutions
We invite you to discover us as a partner, testing environment, and source of expertise for the development of advanced educational and clinical solutions.
Simulation is not just a method – it is a space where innovation meets practice.

Simulation of an Annual Check-up of a Chronic Patient in a Family Medicine Clinic
- Ljubljana Health Centre
A simulated annual check-up of a chronic patient in a family medicine clinic will demonstrate the work process of a registered nurse with special knowledge in secondary prevention.
Treating stable patients with chronic lung disease at the primary level once a year, instead of referring them to a specialist, reduces labour costs, allows better access to continuous care in the absence of disease complications, and offers regular monitoring of successful self-management and a continuous empowerment process for chronic patients.
With regular annual office visits, we can provide patients with the opportunity to become the best managers of their health.
During the annual check-up, the nurse can devote more time to one patient than a specialist pulmonologist. The nurse can perform all routine examinations offered by specialist clinics.
Every visit is also an opportunity to actively search for signs of other underlying medical conditions and with utilising successful teamwork, we can immediately provide the patient with access to additional services if needed: e.g. consultation with a general practitioner, adapting pharmacological therapy, vaccinations, referrals to other healthcare professionals or to secondary or tertiary level.
With the data collected during these routine visits at the general practice office the health of the population, the quality of health care, and the needs to develop new public health approaches and policies can all be monitored at the national level.

Visit Health Promotion Centre and Explore How We Build a Healthier Community
- Health Promotion Centre
We warmly invite you to visit our Health Promotion Centre, where we will be delighted to introduce who we are, what we do, and why we believe that taking care of your health can be simple, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone.
During a short presentation, you will get to know our programs, our approach, and our mission – and above all, our passion for working with people.
We will also offer you a practical demonstration of handgrip strength measurement using a dynamometer, just one of the many ways we monitor and support a healthy lifestyle.
We look forward to meeting you, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and exploring how we can build a healthier community – step by step, together.
