The role of health economics in primary care

David Epstein is Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Granada, Spain. He has served as economic advisor to the Spanish Ministry of Health and on the Joint Scientific Advice subgroup of the European Union Member State Coordination Group on Health Technology Assessment (HTA). He has participated in several national and international projects to develop methodologies for economic evaluation of medicines and other health technologies.

Jim Walker has been an international champion of research, policies and projects that enable people to enjoy walking for 25 years. He specialises in developing national policies and effective behaviour change campaigns, securing political commitment, engaging communities and delivering safe sustainable transport, active health and accessible recreation projects. His focus is increasingly on supporting the needs of women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities and those with low incomes – especially in low and middle income countries – who rely on walking as their essential mobility.

Advanced Technologies

Marc Lazarovici is a medical doctor (internal medicine), human factor trainer and computer scientist. He graduated from the Munich Medical School (LMU) in 2002 and studied computer sciences (part time) at the University Hagen between 2000 and 2011. Since 2003 he is a human factor and CRM trainer in the medical field. Currently, he is leading the Human Simulation Center at the Institute for Emergency Medicine, Medical Center of the Munich Ludwig-Maximilians-University, and working as trainer in different medical simulation trainings and as visiting professor at the UMFST University in Romania. He is member of the SSiH, SESAM and cofounding member of the DGSiM (german simulation society). He has been a member of the SESAM board (Executive Committee, EC) between 2016 and 2023, having served as Treasurer and SESAM President. He is cofounding member and active auditor in the SESAM Accreditation Group. Currently he is a board member of the Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare GNSH.

His research interests and activities focus mainly on further developing learning opportunities through simulation, be it by developing new extended reality simulators or by researching the implications of the increasing use of AR/VR technology to the healthcare environment, especially on the teamwork. Usability of medical devices is also a field of interest and research in his work.
